Angie Stone Is Saving Brothas!

Angie Stone who is known as the “Sugar Momma” in black hollywood wants to be given a little credit for making the brothas over. In a recent interview, she vouches that she was the one that brought the sexy out of D’Angelo.

When I was dating him he wore glasses, had short hair and his pants were hanging down to his butt. He was just a 19-year-old kid with big shorts and nobody cared and no one saw his beauty but me. And I told him, “You are beautiful. I promise you when your record drops your lips are gonna become famous, your eyes—everything will become famous. But he couldn’t see it because his self-esteem wasn’t where it is today. He didn’t even have an image and his hair was really short so I braided his hair with thread for his first album cover. It wasn’t until Brown Sugar came out that people actually took a good look at him and said, “You know what? He’s fine.” Then all of a sudden, he’s so fine he shouldn’t be with me.

Laz Alonso on Angie:
“When I met Angie, I was going through some rough times in my life. It was almost like God sent her into my life to bring me closer to Him. I’ve never really been a churchgoing cat, and I’ve never really been into scripture or anything like that. he would spend hours on the phone talking to me about God and how God has a plan for you. She was like, ‘You have to be strong, everything happens for a reason, read this scripture and read that scripture.’ She got me to start going to church and she would put me on the phone with some of her friends, and they would pray with me.”
Darrin Dewitt Henson who was rumored to have dated Angie briefly gives his testimony:
“She understands brothers!”
