First of all, you claim African Americans look down upon African born people yet you obviously look down upon AA people, so what’s up with the hypocrisy?
When I was in college, there was no seperation amongst black people. We were all part of the Black Culture League, NAACP, and we all celebrated Black History together. We often put together shows where African Americans, Caribbean Americans, and Africans would represent the cultures in harmony.
I’m truly sorry for your experience, but your superiority complex is not helping the issue. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black!
Furthermore, the problem is not exclusive to AA people. Africans and Caribbean people stereotype AA people just as much as AA people stereotype and look down upon Africans. But those people are ignorant and are not the majority.
BTW, my boyfriendis part Nigerian(Half Jamaican/), and he was born in the UK. And I’ve experienced white women chasing amongst African men as well over there - and probably even more!
AA people may have a lot of issues in our communities, but Africans are not void of these issues. And we all know that, so save your ignorance for another day, my dear.

Somalis and other Africans just don’t look alike. Maybe there’s a semblance between Somalis and Ethiopians. But Somalis more of an Arab culture because of the influence and inter-mixing. well Metis, there are a group of people who live in Somalia, speak Somali and are Muslim as well called the Bantu. They are very dark and are black…maybe you’ve seen them. Most ethnically Somali people are not as dark as them, but come in many different shades. My family is medium toned to light and some of my cousins are dark skinned. There is a lot of colorism in Somalia…i.e. a girl isn’t as attractive if she is dark. But that’s the case in a lot of different cultures. But Somalis don’t look like typical black people because of their features (hair, face).
Also, Trinitalian, Somalis don’t all have big foreheads and they don’t all look the same. No one is superior than anyone else, so I’m not sure where you got that idea from. To say that Somalis don’t look like other Africans or that Somalis are mixed with Arabs doesn’t mean that they think they’re superior. That’s just stating the facts.
PEOPLE: Arabs are NOT indigenous to Somalia! The Somalis are BLACK, just as the majority of African Americans who are mixed with European and Native blood are BLACK AFRICANS!

Just the other week there was a programme on the television called “Last Chance Kids” which shared the shocking information that 20% of primary school age children in Britain leave school unable to read. I personally think that we like all human beings on the planet need to seek out the best in ourselves and others as much as we are able to. We also would benefit from cutting one another some slack at times, being gentle with one another, patiently sharing and hearing our many stories and experiences (whether from the U.S., the U.K., Africa, the West Indies and other places) and when frustrated with and by one another we as black people might consider: taking a deep breath/running around the block/meditating/breaking for a breather or simply giving one another a hug. Choose as appropriate, and these are just a few suggestions!
We are not without hope, not at all. In fact quite the contrary! It is the thought of who we are, what we have been and what we are capable of becoming that keeps the Uncle Krackas of the world constantly trying to do us down. Just a thought….
