Quote of the Day

Posted by Bossip Staff

Dog Chapman

Duane Dog Chapman speaks to Fox News:

“I thought that I was cool enough in the black world to be able to use that word as a brother to a brother. I’m not. I didn’t really know until three or four days ago what that meant to black people. There’s a special connection that I thought I had between me and black America. And I used to say, ‘I’m black, too.’

“In other words, my whole life I’ve been called a half-breed, a convict, king of the trailer trash, this and that…so when I stood there and said, ‘I kind of know what you feel like, because I’ve been there, too,’ that I felt that I could embrace and like, as brothers…say the word. I now learned I’m not black at all, and I never did it out of hate. This sounds so stupid. I always did it out of love. Other white guys would be like, ‘Boy, who does Dog think he is? Dog can say that.’ And black guys would be with me and walk with me and respect me. So, I went too far with that.”

It’s too late for all that explaining now, SMH.

WTF??? GTFOH.. You thought you were black too?? How??? Mofo please NO you don’t know what it feels like to be black. You never will. Just because some fools gave you a pass on using the N-word, now all of sudden your black. This shows how truly ignorant this mofo is. And then he goes on to generalize the whole black population by gettin’ on Fox Noise and making it seem like all black people are ok with the use of the N-word. Idiot get a clue, a few black people don’t speak for all black people. Does David Duke speak for all white people? Now, you know I know damn well that he doesn’t. See how stupid and sad this shit is?? SMH.

  13. Candace

…which is EXACTLY why that word has no place in our vocabulary - got everybody thinkin’ that if you’re black OR if you’re cool with black folk, they can use it by default. And Nas, Monique, Damon Wayans (and many mo’) think the word is harmless? Get Wise People!!

  14. kool

he needs to stop trying to fix his career. Listen to the tape on the internet. He bluntly states that if his son doesn’t break up with that n**ger he would be out of a job. He actually refers to black people as niggers more than four times on a four minute tape. He needs to stop, he is a racist

You make a very good point. Black people stop using this word. It’s bad. PERIOD. Some blacks folks have been “letting” Dog use this word like it was okay and when he became comfortable with it and using it too much it came back to bite him in the ass. I’m soo tired of AAs using this word like it’s a term of enderment. I am more offended when a black person uses this word than a white person. When will those who use this word wake the hell up??????

  18. hey girl

did yall see that thick skinned red neck rooster hair do bitch trying to keep his job. he knows damn well not one black person is going to allow his racist crack head drunk ass say nigger in their prescens without taking offense and cracking him in his fucking head. him and his big fat nast greasy greedy dyke looking fat ass hoe ass wife. punk ass beyotch and he looks ike he stanks like monkey shit

But back to “DOG” when did he get his Ghetto Pass??

    It’s been revoked now!!!

You know what all the people on here dissin Dog are some hypocrites. Don’t the rappers use the word? Even the ones who aren’t black. Eminem, Big Pun and the rest of those cats that art Puerto Rican, hell JLo even said it. That’s why Dog was confused. Some AAs seem to think they own the damn word and are handing out passes for others to say it like it a “get outta jail free card”. If you don’t like it stop using it and supporting people who do other wise STFU!

  26. Anonymous3

    AND…

I agree, but you see the bad publicity JLo got for using that word….the word was meant to demean and I think we used it still to demean each other…somewhere along the way we fooled ourselves into thinking that we could turn it into an endearment and that we were the only ones that could use it….the funny thing is I don’t see other minority groups taking racists words used against them and using it on each others….i.e I have never heard Mexicans call each other wetbacks or spics

  27. @ U Poet

    BULL SHIT!!!!!!!!

  28. wifey

Honestly, after hearing the tapes and reading the transcripts, the word “Nigger” is not what makes him sound racist. It is the CONTEXT in which he used it. He didn’t have to use the word “nigger” to sound like a bigot. His entire conversation with his son was a racist rant about how his son couldn’t bring a black woman into his family, and how if his son insisted on dating the black woman, the son was not welcome to work in the family business, live in his home or associate with his family.

Dog is full of shit. He is a hustler who is trying to hustle his way out of this mess. I used to respect the man, and what I thought was his giving spirit. Now he has been unveiled as a selfish, bigotted asshole.

    Fuck ‘em.

Exactly!! Why are we the only minority using a word that we ALL KNOW stemmed from hatred and using on each other. What the hell do y’all (and by y’all I mean the ones who use it or support it) really think our ancestors, you know the ones who were called that on a daily by white folks, would think of us using that word to refer to each other? What do you think Martin Luther King Jr. would say? Do you even care? It’s seems like the only time we can unite as a group is when we are fighting white folks on racism when we are the very ones being racist. I don’t understand-SMH.

All I say is shrug them off and concentrate on making you happy……

Cos im tired of hearing people whyne about this shit i mean come on most of you gotta be over 20 and if you’ve been here for 20 years you gotta know by now that no matter how much you bitch about it, aint going to make it stop, so why don’t you piss them haters off by doing good for yourself!

  37. CubaLinda

Wow!! For that blasted fool to say he ONLY RECENTLY discovered the meaning of the word is an insult to all of us. This is not some new controversy behind the use of the “N” word, if he shares such a kinship with Blacks, then he would have been following our responses over the decades behind the use of the word. Are we supposed to be stupid enough to accept that there is one American- born citizen that DOESNT understand the offense behind the use of the word when there are people in 3rd world countries w/o mainstream media access that understand the controversy behind the “N” word? Furthermore, Dog is trying to play spin doctor by saying he used the word in a brotherly context, well what the heck is brotherly about “son if you dont get rid of your N*gg*r girlfriend your fired cause that N*gg*r aint gonna mess up my business telling people I am calling these N*gg*ers a N*gg*r!!”

F*ck off Dog, cause that is a really lame excuse and ignorance has never been a viable defense!!

  38. get a grip

You know, when coming up as a youngster we were taught about our black culture and how we were abused and used and called “niggers”, and then we were given the definition that nigger was an attitude. So as a person who dealt with kids, I made them stop saying it if they didn’t know the definition. The definition used to be nigger - attitude.. so anyone could be a nigger. However, I must say that today, I stand corrected. Because the term is used so loosely among blacks and whites in today’s society, before writing this comment I went to dictionary.com and looked at the dictionary sitting by me and it has: nigger: slang - a black person - what one black calls anoter.. a term used among blacks as a form of admiration or brotherhood. People please. We are dogging Dog for what.. because we, as a society in itself, has deemed it okay to call each other niggers but when somone outside of our circle says it, we want to blow up. Wow. Just like we took Ms. Rosa Park for not wanting to sit at the back of the bus to help get us equal rights, when we, as black people get on the bus, where is the first place we go, right to the back of the damn bus.. It took people getting beat in the street and tormented for integrated schooling and what do we as black people do, drop the hell out, education is so not important to us… It took a whole lot of people to change things for us to vote, but how many do you know that actually vote. So stop dogging Dog. He didn’t do anything that has not already been done. Give the man back his job. Let him say whatever he wants. It only offends those that consider themselves a “nigger”. By no means is that me. I don’t walk that life. Am I black yes, but don’t call me a “nigger” beause that is not what I answer to.

the definition must have changed because when I was growing the word meant someone who was ignorant, not someone who had an attitude or an endearment used between blacks….Wow do you see how the word that originated with White folks meant to “put us in our place” has now been given soley to us as though we invented and why?? because we allowed ourselves to be played….we accepted the word and fooled ourselves into thinking that if we used it ourselves it would take the “bite” out of the word…..

  44. Nikki

I agree with get a grip, we can’t be mad at this man for saying the word when look at what some our own people are doing. Shit we torture and put down our own people day after day, We got bigger issues in our own society that we need to worry about instead of focusing on which white mutherfucker says the N word this month.

I was raise to believe that the N word meant someone who was worthless. Hence the reason whites used to use it. The definitions of words do change as society changes. Bling Bling and crunk are now in the dictionary. I’m serious MTV did an entire 30 minute episode on the “Hip Hop” dictionary which is in actual print. What scares me so much is that kids growing up today will go to dictionary.com to look up the word and find these definitions that are so untrue and will give them a false sense of the meaning and history of the word. The generations to come will be soooo confused.

That statement totally contradicts what he said in his phone conversation with his son. He clearly stated that he did not want him dating a black girl because she may hear him say the word n*gger. But if he felt so comfortable like he stated in his quote why would say what he said on the phone? he is fulla sh*t and needs to go crawl under a rock like Michael Richards did b/c he is drawing way too much attention to himself.

some of you are white people pretending to be black online because you are shifting the blame from dog to black people. black people saying it is not why he says it he said it because he was mad at his son for dating a black girl who may hear him use that word that he obviously know is wrong or he would have said it on the show by now. his ex wife said he saw a black/white couple in the grocery store and he called the black man a pimp and threatened to beat him up. so he is racist and he uses that word to be offensive and in anger. his pastor is black and he never heard him use it so thats proves he is lying about only using it around blacks. you actual black people need to wake up and stop letting fox news shift the focus onto us or rap music whenever a white person says or does something racist. address the issue stop getting railroaded into blaming yourself for other acting racist because he would be racist even if you never used the n word. why havent black people come forward to say that they are friends with dog and he uses the words around them? they havent because he is lying he hides his use of that word from black people he knows like his pastor and he was letting his son know that he didnt want to let a black woman hear him use it because he knows its wrong to use.

Stop blaming black people for using the word. That has nothing to do with this.

He didnt use the word niggah, the way some blacks do toward each other . When he used ther terms nigga and “f—ing nigga” over and over, he wasnt not using it as a term of endearment, like e thinks he’s cool with us.

Did you listen to the tape? He also said if his daughter brought over a nigger he’d say “fu– you!”. Does that sound like a white man who’s trying to be down?

Its just a bogus excuse and I’m surprised some of you cant see that.

  70. Mary J Blige

those of you who don’t use the N word in your personal lives have a right to be offended.

THOSE OF YOU BLACK FOLK WHO USE THE N WORD FREQUENTLY IN THEIR PERSONAL LIVES SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PUT UP WITH IT. I hear these street thugs refering even to white people as ‘nigger’ these days. WTF? how can you have that attitude and then turn around and be offended when a white person calls you that because YOU HAVE MADE HIM FEEL ITS MERELY A FOND WAY OF ADDRESSING PEOPLE (RATHER THAN A HATEFUL TERM WITH A PAINFUL PAST). you bring this on yourselves and unfortunately you bring it on all African -Americans (even those who don’t deserve it).

having said that, This Dogg/bitch whatever dude genuinely meant it as an offensive term knwoing full well the history behind it. but i’m just saying that some white people genuinely don’t know and will continue to think its just a friendly term of endearment (ahem..take notes Nas)

  78. I’m not upset with Dog at all. Frankly, when I hear someone use the “N” word I don’t get upset at all. It has less to do with the fact that we as a people use it in everyday language and more to do with the fact that I know who I am. I am confindent in my abilities and what I stand for. I chalk it up as foolishness and ignorance on the users part. I guy I did business with, who happens to be a white guy, said that he feels he can learn something from every man. He also said that people who are easily angered or bothered are so because they are not happy with themselves. It makes perfect sense. That’s why we spend lavishly, even though we are the bottom of the barrel in terms of income earned, and why we wear flashy things and why rappers lie so much in songs. We, as a culture, are insecure. So everytime someone of a different background says anything that we don’t agree with he’s a racist. Don’t get me wrong, Dog was out of line with his comments. I just feel like I got my own problems. I don’t really care what he’s saying.

In response to everyone so comfortable excusing his obviously bigotted use of the “N” word by suggesting that its acceptable b/c SOME Black people use the word, I say this:

The “N” word was NEVER accepted in my household growing up and my parents NEVER allowed us to even listen to or watch anything with that sort of content. That standard is ingrained in me to this day and I dont tolerate use of the word nor do I subscribe to anything that does promote use of the word. I am not alone there are many Blacks that have this value- so please stop suggesting that we all use it so Whites should be excused for their use of the word. There is a large contingent of us that stand offended no matter whom uses the word. For that, we have a right to be outraged when ever it is used esp. by those with a public appeal and pop- influence. It is not endearment when Blacks use the word btwn each other, it is ignorance. Thru institutional racism, some of us are incapable of understanding that this oppression and ignorance has become a state of mind. However, that does not mean that other more conscious Black people should have to excuse the use of the word by Whites b/c of ignorant Black people who chose to use such language. My standards are not based upon what ignorant people will accept nor will I tolerate being offended simply b/c of those who are too stupid to know when they should be offended. Therefore, I dont care about the population of Blacks that use the word casually, I am representing the throngs of Blacks who like me, know that the use of the word is cause for a slap down. Black people who use the word should be dealt with b/c of their failure to understand what it signifies and perpetuating the insult to Blacks that whites instituted; White people should be dealt with for assigning such a demeaning term to a race of people and continuing to offend us with the use of such a word that only implies racial connotations. There is no other way to percieve use of the word!!

  82. richie

Now see? THIS is the type of bullshit that we have to look forward to by ‘embracing” the n-word. And you know what? I don’t blame Duane Chapman. I blame US! We are the ones that continue to use it like it’s OK. So if you get mad at Duane, then you are a fucking hypocrite! Everybody who was defending Nas about his album’s title, need to think about THIS shit and finally WAKE UP!

  83. kisha

    people,

i can call my best friend a BITCH and it’s different then you calling her a BITCH. any half intelligent person knows that. so no one can really say they think it’s ok to say nigga because black people say it.

he shouldn’t be ostracized for using it. it was a private conversation and we all say things in private conversations that we wouldn’t necessarily announce at work. we can’t make people stop being racist if that’s what they are; but we can make people be “politically correct” and not say distasteful things in public - that’s about it.

don’t be a hypocrite. if you’re so sensitive about the word then don’t say it at all.

His son probably grew up in the house hearing that word, that might have been what made him “go to the other side” to find out why his dad said what he said and the son probably felt like his pops was wrong for his mentality and then decided to tape him being an ass on the phone one day. This probably isn’t the first convo with his son using the N-word. How else could his son have known his dad was gonna call when he did and use the language he used - because he uses it all the time.

If you can’t help it then why should Dog? or any any other white person for that matter.

P.S. (To all those who do use the word) Why do you use that word. No disrespect, I just REALLY want to know.

  88. Curly Fries

Hell naw! Hasn’t the Imus fiasco taught this mullet-wearing, trailer park hick ANYTHING?

  89. Just_Wanna_Know

Give me a f*^@!in break! He knew better!

  90. joe

oh my god. he would have been better off keeping his mouth shut. did he think this statement would have REDEEMED himself?

there was nothing “brotherly” or “comradly” about the was he used n–. he clearly stated that he didn’t want blacks around him because he uses the word.

if he really meant no harm like he is noW saying, he would have embraced his son’s black girlfriend.

    STUPID

  91. JPEEZY

He is so full of shit!!! There is no way he can justify telling his son to dump his NIGGER girlfriend by saying that he felt he was “cool enough in the black community” to say NIGGER. First and foremost….he need not dare insult the intelligence of Fox News….AND of black people by trying to say that he thought he was “black too.” SPARE ME!! Ain’t no way in hell your ass is black…

I’m infuriated that he had nerve to sit up here and BOLD FACE LIE…trying to use the fact that whoever the hell accepted him saying the N word as the reason why it came up in his conversation with his son. That make no kind of sense. And if anybody accepts that poor ass piece of shit excuse, something is seriously wrong. Let’s just take him for what he is…A confederate flag waving, mullet wearing, racist, son-of-a-bitch!!!

  92. joe

    @AND

I use the word because I have become so desensitized to the meaning behind it. I don’t think about it as a slur. It’s wrong, and I do make a concious effort to not use it, especially around my friends who do not approve of the word.

It is my personal opinion that we take the power out of the word, by not reacting to people’s negative use of it. Shoot, I call white people the n– word, too. I detach it from race all together. when i hear the n– word, it isn’t synonomous with black. (I think this is also Nas’ strategy, maybe?)

But, this is only my opinion, and I do understand why some people prefer the word not being used at all. But realistically, the word WILL NOT DISAPPEAR.

  93. He’s a racist and these types of things will continue to happen as long as black people use these kinds of words. I’m really not feeling the way some people try to blame there wrongdoings on black people and hip hop. If you do the crime STFU and do the damn time dogg!

  94. Mike Baller

Dog just stop it will you….it’s over you messed up now accept your punishment. All these explanations of why you said it doesn’t matter anymore. You let America see your true colors. Now you probably feel like a black man disrespected, unappreciated, and unemployed.

  95. TeeDee

Dog’s rant is one of the most hate filled tirades I’ve heard from anyone in the public eye since old footage from the Civil Rights era… and a lot of current rap music. When we run rogue on these young buffoons degrading black women and trying to justify their use of the terms hoe and bitch, I’ll be impressed.

There is only public outrage if it’s perceived that a dollar can’t be earned. Black folks are not running the major media conglomerates. If A&E could have made money now from what he said, he would have a spin off show tomorrow, regardless of what black folks thought. If this fool pays his penance to the satisfaction of the powers that be, his skanky, trailer-park-trash, racist ass will be right back on some television show. Let me say this more clearly; if white folks in power can make money off of feces, our feces, they will sell it back to us and deem it fit for consumption. And, apparently, we don’t care and seem to like it. The white man is still sculpting many of our images of ourselves. If the white man did not make money off iced-out idiots, we would not hear about them nor see them in videos with nearly naked sisters making their butts bounce, drop and clap. The same corrupt dollar that brought us here is the same corrupt dollar that keeps us in our place and deaf, dumb and blind.

I have to agree with some other posters on here. Dog ain’t our problem. I don’t think he was hiring black folks anyway. What did the black community lose when he showed the world his true colors? What is the black community losing every time some child imitates his or her idol, who just happens to be a self hating buffoon, clowning for the master? Just as disco died, when are we going to kill the hate speech coming from idiots who are aided and abetted by folks who are fattening their children’s trust funds by making black folks look stupid? It hurts to admit that some of us are still dutiful servants, too self absorbed to know that we are being led like a bull with a ring in his nose. Dog ain’t the problem, y’all. F him and his ragamuffin family.

NATIONAL ENQUIRER EXCLUSIVE: “DOG” RACISM SCANDAL GROWS - FAMILY & FRIENDS COME FORWARD WITH MORE EXAMPLES

Dog the Bounty Hunter’s vicious racial outburst shocked America, but it came as no surprise to those who have known him for years.

A former colleague, his ex wife, his step-daughter and an ex girlfriend have now come forward exclusively to The NATIONAL ENQUIRER revealing that Dog has been using racist language as long as they can remember. They have all heard it directly from him.

A&E network has pulled his show off the air but has not canceled it. Meanwhile, more shocking examples of Dog’s racism are being revealed.

“I think Dog is a racist - no question,” said Dog’s former wife Lyssa Chapman. Lyssa was married to the fallen “Dog the Bounty Hunter” star from 1982-1991 and is the mother of three of his children, including Tucker, whose relationship with a black woman prompted Dog’s venomous rant.

“He ran down every single minority group when I was with him, and n—er was a daily word for him,” Lyssa told The NATIONAL ENQUIRER. “He called Mexican people ‘beaners’ or ‘wetbacks’ and Asian people ‘flangeheads.’

“I would tell him not to talk that way in front of our kids, but he just ignored me.”

Lyssa recalled an incident in Denver in which she says Dog lashed out at an interracial couple in a grocery store.

“Dog said to the woman, ‘I know that’s got to be your pimp! I know you wouldn’t be f—–g him if you weren’t getting paid!’

“They were husband and wife, but when the man started to object, Dog just went crazy, screaming at him, ‘I’ll kick your ass.’”

Dog also made his views clear to colleagues.

Peggy Munoz, now a private investigator in Lakewood, Colo., was a former bail bondsman working the same turf as Dog Chapman from 1989 to 2005.

She claims Dog once sat in her office and explained his “approach” to the bail bond business.

“Dog said, ‘I don’t like to bond out n—-rs because they don’t have any money and I have trouble collecting on them.

“‘And I don’t like to bond out Mexicans because, well, they just run.’”

    @ And-

How do we deal with record labels that promote artists who use the word?? Well unless we stand firm and in solidarity to show these commer. media figure heads that we wont support the ignorance they are producing there really is not a way to make our points clear. I personally, sont promote or subscribe to artists, authors, or entertainment figures that do promote degrading images of Blacks. I can say proudly that I have not knowingly put my $$ behind anyone that has been guilty of this. Unless they have gained residual profits from something I have supported- there is no way I supported that mess directly. So I think the problem is too massive to think we can cut it from the head, we have to slay the beasts in our homes, schools and communities. I have no problem riding the 4-train up to 125th and butting in to a convo of some high schoolers who are throwing the word around at each other while all the White people look on and silently take credit for keeping us oppressed and ignorant. In your own way, boycott those companies that promote the negative images, on the whole what we need is bigger than small talk on Bossip…

I think you covered ALL of the bases with this one actually.

  101. CubaLinda

    @ Joe {may I cut in on this pls?…}-

Being desensitized to the word is paramount to why some of us have allowed ourselves to be degraded repeatedly. I can understand the pysche behind becoming desensitized as a mechanism of defense. Similar to a child being verbally abused and in order to stifle the effects they decide, “I dont care anymore”. Even if we want to say, the word has no meaning and it doesnt affect me, we have to be responsible enough to reject that approach. It is a copout for those of us that cant face the true conflict that it presents. So we say it means nothing and to prove a point we hurl it at each other casually hoping that will lessen the blow, but it obviously holds the same hurtful racists context when we become outraged behind someone else chimming in. Its human nature to deflect painful experiences, so when we hear the word being used, that is equivalent to someone saying “I’m going to hit myself with this before you do- destroy me first so that you cant”, but it isnt that the word has lost its punch, its b/c we are denying how we really feel about it so that when a White person looks or thinks of us in that way our defenses will rise up to say: “cant hurt me with that b/c I already did it to myself”…. You cant detach meaning from a word that has hundreds of years of a pre-existing definition of racism attached to it no matter how hard you try… Casual use will neve change the history and or meaning of the word, EVER!!

This motherf*cker must think that we are stupid. Really? You didn’t know and you thought that you had a bond with black people. Is that the best that your PR people could come up with? He’s lying because if he didn’t know he couldn’t say the word, then why did he tell his son to leave his black girlfriend alone so he wouldn’t get into trouble for using the n-word? I guess he’s just using the same excuse all white people do: “Oh, the rappers use it all the time” thing.

  104. GetOverItAlready

You “black” people kill me. How is it ok to use the term within our own community and it’s not ok for anybody else. Weather your using it as a term of endearment or to offend someone the word is still the same no matter how you try to change it. Besides the fact, if your not a nigga then why get offended? All this woooh the black man makes me sick!!! Especially since they’re other races who’ve gone through the storm as well as we have and you don’t see them blaming the “white man” for how there life has turned out. We as a people need to stop blaming and start doing some shit!

Here is a transcript of the audio tape obtained by the National Enquirer of Dog the Bounty Hunter ordering his son Tucker to break up with his girlfriend who is black. Dog, who has 13 children total by 4 wives and other assorted baby mamas, doesn’t feature Tucker in his popular show. Tucker was recently released from prison where he was serving 20 years on drug charges.

“I don’t care if she’s a Mexican, a whore or whatever. It’s not because she’s black, it’s because we use the word ni**er sometimes here. I’m not gonna take a chance ever in life of losing everything I’ve worked for for 30 years because some fucking ni**er heard us say ni**er and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine. Our career is over! I’m not taking that chance at all! Never in life! Never! Never! If Lyssa [Dog’s daughter] was dating a ni**er, we would all say ‘fuck you!’ And you know that. If Lyssa brought a black guy home ya da da… it’s not that they’re black, it’s none of that. It’s that we use the word ni**er. We don’t mean you fucking scum ni**er without a soul. We don’t mean that shit. But America would think we mean that. And we’re not taking a chance on losing everything we got over a racial slur because our son goes with a girl like that. I can’t do that Tucker. You can’t expect Gary, Bonnie, Cecily, all them young kids to [garbled] because ‘I’m in love for 7 months’ - fuck that! So, I’ll help you get another job but you can not work here unless you break up with her and she’s out of your life. I can’t handle that shit. I got ‘em in the parking lot trying to record us. I got that girl saying she’s gonna wear a recorder..”

…And the final blow comes for Dog’s step-daughter Nicole Gillespie, daughter of one of his other ex-wives, Tawnee, who like the others claims that Chapman is racially abusive.

“My mother was half-Mexican, and if they fought, Dog would call her a ‘dirty spic whore’ and a ‘dirty Mexican slut. That’s what he taught his kids was the right way to talk. When they got older, they had to un-learn the racism that Dog taught them. It’s sick. It’s like a disease, and it spreads.”

    @Cuba

I agree that casual use of the word will not erase the histrical stigma attached to the word. I can’t argue with those who feel that the word should not be used casually, because it shouldn’t.

However, realisitcally, even if we as a people try to stop using the word, it will be used.

For example, I heard about a child calling another child the n-word at school. My immediate reaction was - “Now you know they must hear their parents use it!” So, now when I look at them smiling and what not, I still feel some kind of resent ment/distrust towards them.

I think there is a lot of work that needs to be done in the American culture as well as within the African American community. We have issues and need to deal with them.
