Def Jam Claims Nas Has No Album on the Release Schedule

A rep for Def Jam is saying that not only will there not be an album released by Nas called Nigga, there is no album set to drop in December at all.
Via FoxNews.com:
“There is no album release by Nas on the release schedule at this point,” a source close to Island Def Jam Music Group chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid told FOXNews.com.
“And they would be unlikely to release an album with that title. How would that look at Wal-Mart?”
The Rev. Jesse Jackson denounced the rapper’s remarks about his desired album title. “The title using the ‘N’ word is morally offensive and socially distasteful,” Jackson said in a statement. “Nas has the right to degrade and denigrate in the name of free speech, but there is no honor in it. “Radio and television stations have no obligation to play it and self-respecting people have no obligation to buy it. I wish he would use his talents to lift up and inspire, not degrade, making mockery of racism.”
We just love how the Reverend Jesse Jackson throws his opinions in there. Anyway, if there is no album coming out on Def Jam, maybe we should look forward to seeing Nas on another record label that wouldn’t mind putting that Nigga album on the shelves at Wal-Mart.

Nasty Nas… Is this a publicity stunt, or is this a valiant, rebellious effort the likes of which Nasir Jones has lately been known for with his “Hip Hop is DEAD” rhetoric? I haven’t heard an explanation as of yet, but I tend to give Nas the benefit of the doubt simply because historically he has done well with explaining his chaotic tounge in a logical (and lyrical) manner. As far as Jesse and the NAACP, the logical explanation of ones position when referencing a vocabulary word is much more powerful than simply denouncing the word and casting it into darkness. It is only disrespectful in its meaning, not its usage. Because YOU choose not to say it, doesn’t mean it won’t be said. I’d rather hear a man’s reasoning than “box” a man’s words by title alone. If he has no viable logic or understanding for the words he uses, then HE ALONE should ban his own ignorant self from using ANY word he cannot grasp… at least until he enlightens himself. Jesse doesn’t want us to enlighten ourselves, he wants to do that for us. I’m good Jesse, Al and rest of you Skin Pimps… I’m good.
