Celebrity Reactions to the Election Pt. 1

Posted by Bossip Staff

Here’s a better video of Common and Talib Kweli hosted an election party last night at the Hard Rock Cafe in Chi-town. Check out Common’s speech directly after Obama was declared our next president. YES WE CAN!!!!!!

More reactions from Oprah, Usher, Blood Diamond Russ, Diddy and Kim K when you continue

Oprah: “It feels like hope won. It feels like it’s not just victory for Barack Obama. It feels like America did the right thing. “It feels like there’s a shift in consciousness. It feels like something really big and bold has happened here, like nothing ever in our lifetimes did we expect this to happen.

“It feels like anything is now possible.”

Diddy: “I felt like my vote was the vote that put him into office. It was down to one vote, and that was going to be my vote. “And that may not be true but that’s how much power it felt like I had.”

Usher: “This will go down in history, in black history, for all of the sacrifices that the great Joseph Lowery and Martin Luther King made, this actually pays off for their sacrifice. The great Rosa Parks.

“So many people sacrificed for us to have a voice. It was one thing to have a voice but, to eventually know the best way to use it and then it grows into this, it’s just incredible.

“I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say.”

Russell Simmons: “I don’t think I’m overstating it when I say that today, I feel like America has dodged a bullet. Let’s support this beautiful leader to do the work necessary to promote and execute on the change agenda we all voted for.  Let’s each do our part to insure that this is a transformative time in America, where our country can be a leader in creating a positive and lasting change in the world.”

Kim Kardashian: “This was my first time ever voting and it was a very freeing experience for me. My parents are republicans and us kids are Democrats. Obama is the first step toward getting much-needed change.”

Yes we did, we as the next generation chose Hope

Yesterday, I was so excited and happy about our new president elect, the way we see each other in the black community will change as the way folks from other ethnicities will see us.

My father always said, you are the future, my siblings and I are half african and my dad is a jewish polish, he always said that we are the future and hope on this earth. Yesterday night I cried I cried I cried tears of joy, thanks to our ancestors, Rosa sat for Martin, Martin walked for Obama, and Obama run for us and we did it

    that’s just a beginning

I thank G-d for this and I pray for the huge challenges that Obama and his entourage will have to face. I beleive

    blessed are you all

Also, Malcolm X has a powerful speech about voting rights entitled Ballot or the Bullet. All of you should check it out! Peace, Love & Gratitude goes out to all of our African American predecessors that made this election possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. soulwoman

Kim and Diddy need to STFU!

    @ Mariama FOR Obama

Also, Malcolm X has a powerful speech about voting rights entitled Ballot or the Bullet. All of you should check it out! Peace, Love & Gratitude goes out to all of our African American predecessors that made this election possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ——————————–

I love that “Ballot & Bullet” speech!

  19. Read Your History

    @ soulwoman

Kim and Diddy need to STFU!

    ———————————-

I’m still trying to figure out how Kim K got a reaction write up next to Oprah’s comments.

But whatever. Barack still won :-)

  20. soulwoman

At least Oprah, Russell and Usher had something of substance to say. Not just, “oh, we want change.” Bullshit! Be more elaborate. Diddy had to make it about him, and Kim had nothing but a lame generic. She don’t know what the hell she is talking about. Just another attempt for her to try to win the black vote. Furthermore, I’m tired of her always being grouped up with black folks. I don’t see any quotes from any other non black person.

  21. lovely lady Nicole

Rosa Sat so Martin can Walk

Martin walked so Obama can Run

Obama ran so our children can Fly

  22. Barack smashed McCain, fuck what diddy said. His vote didnt make that much of a difference. Kim K might just try to fuck Barack now.

  23. Abigail

Diddy has a problem with his ego I think he’s egocentric and even narcissic

however he played a role in that campaign

at least he used his fame for the vote or die thing

  24. WundaBoyRah

Obama rocks!! Obama o8′!!! Diddy needs a reality check!

  25. WordtotheWise

Oprah’s show today will be about the election.

  26. KJF

This is why Obama’s camp told Diddy to stay away. He would have been trying to grab the mic during the acceptance speech.

  27. jusplayit04 The Great

To GOD BE THE GLORY…this is truly a day of days

  28. bonitapplebum

Hannibal where you at mighty quiet today….oh yeah i told you yesterday to go sniff the butt you were so after (McCain) need a tissue?

  29. Diddy’s comment was SO powerful because THAT is what America is about! Democracy is having confidence that YOUR VOTE MATTERS and that YOU HAVE THE POWER!!! Please don’t stop the movement. Continue to vote!!! GObama!

  30. DA TRUFF!!! The Truth Will Set You Free!!! (Welcome to The United States Obamerica)

  31. Kalima

@ lovely lady nicole- that was so beautiful!

  32. Dr. Winkie

And Diddy wonders why intelligent, self-sufficient black people dont want him around. He’s a disgrace and that comment shouldn’t be given any kinda time at all. I feel sorry for kids if this is what they got to have for a father.

  33. Dr. Winkie

    @ Yessir.

i agree that every vote counts but he making it about him so early makes him come across as arrogant (which he is).

Anyways it was pretty much a landslide not a close call as him making out.

  34. Aoki Lee

Oprah really put her reputation on the line when she went public with her endorsement of Barack.

She even loss alot of viewers as a result of it but Oprah saw the bigger picture which speaks volumes about the integrity that the elder generation has in comparison to our generation.

The younger generation Gen X on down are the microwave generation. too focused on the “right now” & not willing to sacrafice I’m just glad we turned out in record numbers to vote yesterdy I’m soo proud.

Being a bi-racial woman of two minority people I know a little more about the importance of what just happened.

  35. TbeenITsince87

Diddy WOULD BE the one to make this about him… I swear some people should rejoice QUIETLY.

  36. I like...........

    Soulwoman….THANK YOU.

Why the hell is Kim always in the mix with the sisters? She aint like me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. Laydacris

Diddy get the fuck out of here!!! This isn’t about you, this is about Mankind and the beauty of the world coming together. I hate that man, everything is always about him!!!!

  38. Don't go there

Diddy vote did put OB in the white house and every one else that vote. I love what Diddy said. Blood diamond Russell once a white model walk in front of him he will for get about O Barack and if Ms. Oprha deceide to pass out more car just may be she will let the black set in on that one. Kim was baptist in Ray J pee and now she thinks she is a sister. No Kim you not a sister you’re just Reggie B Charmine tissue with RJ pee still on you now go and set you whack Azz down. YUK! Diddy for Vice President….. YES!

  39. Yvette

You honestly can’t expect and intelligent answer from Kim K. Puffy, I gave up on him along time ago.

  40. Crazy Ass Rodney

    yesWECAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!

  41. Hezzy

    yes he did iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!!!!! OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. Super_fly_honey

KIM K NEED 2 SHUT THE FUCK UP! SHE IS NOT BLACK NOR WILL SHE EVER BE. SHE KNOW DAMN WELL SHE A REPUBLICAN TOO! SHE JUST VOTED FOR OBAMA TO FIT IN. PROBABLY DON’T EVEN KNOE NOTHIN ABOUT THE MAN BESIDES HIM BEING WHO EVERYBODY WAS VOTING FOR. DIDDY DUMB AS HELL TOO! HE NEEDS 2 CHOKE ON HIS EGO! BITCHASS FOOL!. LET ME STOP LMAOO

  43. J0EY BISHOP

usher, diddy and kim kardashian comments irritate the fuck outta me!…..that nigga hannibal SALTY! hahahaha

  44. Pynk

    @LOVEY LADY NICOLE

I love that saying!!! I’m posting it everywhere!

  45. Pynk

Leave Kim K. alone!! The dang girl voted for the FIRST TIME EVER. Yea some of you guys don’t like her… hating on her because she did the nasty in front of a camcorder…like some of ya all never did it before!! LOL j/k

But her comment I think made it up there because it showed that people who never voted cast their vote for the first time this election year. Minorities in my generation that have only been of voting age for the past 10-15 years haven’t really had anyone to be super passionate about that we could vote for. Clinton was the last one, but I don’t think I was old enough to vote for him at that time. So she’s excited.. we all are.

  46. J0EY BISHOP

    i want you pynk!

  47. Corree

Why are you folks turning this into a “stfu Diddy and Kim” blog? This is so much bigger than them. Kim voted for the 1st time. She and Diddy were asked and they answered. Stop acting like only black folks voted for Barak. There were PLENTY of white, asian and hispanic people who also voted for Barak. Sorry to tell you all, but he’s half white and so black folks didn’t “corner the market” on him. Just be glad that Kim and Diddy voted the way they did and move the hell on.

  48. Pynk

@ Joey Bishop, you so crazy!

When I see you all I think about is when you said you wanted to titty fuck Foxy Brown! Maybe now I’ll see you in a diff light… LOL! Thanks Papi!

  49. J0EY BISHOP

    @corree..on obamas application,it say he BLACK!..so eat a dick

  50. Pynk

    @Joey so harsh!!

  51. Corree

@ Joey: so young………so ignorant. I guess you’re a product of your environment. Did you even vote? How can you spew such venom and use Baraks name in the same sentence? You’re mama must be so proud of you.

  52. J0EY BISHOP

@pynk…hahaha ok im glad you forgive me.

  53. Pynk

@Joey, yea I forgive you… you have a way with words on here though… I think you like stirring things up huh?

  54. S&J

we could of went without kim k’s reaction, who gives a fuck about her opinion.

  55. J0EY BISHOP

@pynk…lol nah i just say the truth how i see it..but i know i be talkin reckless sometime

  56. J0EY BISHOP

@corree…blah blah blah BLAH BLAH BLAH!..and yeah i did vote..NOW bitch

  57. Corree

Since I don’t make it a habit of getting into font fights with morons, I’ll just say this to you and be done: Would you call your mother a bitch? Your grandmother or sister? It’s people like you who make it so hard for good, respectable, hard working black men to succeed. I guess your ignorance knows no boundaries. How sad and pathetic you are. One day when you decide to grow up, I hope you look back and realize that your moronic, simple comments only make you look foolish and have no real relevancy to anything.

  58. J0EY BISHOP

@corree…well YOU aint my moma, sis or grandmother..save all that black power bullshit..FYI im a college gradutate,,i’aint a snob nigga,im still gonna be joey bishop..so how do ya like them apples bitch!

  59. Vanessa

I think President Obama wants to see progress with all of the races but especially the black family because of what he experienced with the absence of his father. So, this is why I don’t understand Diddy being so out front. He’s had these kids with different women none of whom he’s ever considered making a wife and then he’s photographed with even more women (he’s a womanizer)…..Obama is demostrating to men the relevance of having a woman who’s at your side, in your corner and the foundation that’s important for FAMILY. Here’s my message to Diddy and the rest: GROW THE HELL UP! Obama makes you look ’silly’ ‘immature’ ‘unfocused’.

  60. Nik

That is pathetic that a what 28 Kim k is only voting for her first time.

  61. Soulwoman

    ————————————————

    Exactly.

Kim isn’t excited about shit. She is just like the rest of these bandwagon riders. Ask her why she is voting for Obama and the only thing she can say is it’s time for change. Her being a democratic and voting for Obama is another way for her to kiss up to the black community. You can put this right there with her comment about cooking soul food. If the majority of blacks were republicans she would be one too. Stop being naive.

There were plenty of races of celeb that voted for Obama but for some reason Bossip only chose to post response from Kim? That’s the problem. Like I said, like I said they’re always grouping her up with blacks and she is NOT that.

  62. Soulwoman

All these adults voting for the first time she not be given brownie points.

  63. jo

YOOOOO TIRED OF WRITING AND NOT GETTING A POST…. NO, THE STARS SHOULD NOT ATTEND, THEY WEREN’T THERE AT THE BEGINNING ‘SO LET THE NIGHT BE FOR BARACK AND THE ‘MAINSTREAM PEOPLE. EXCUSE ME, PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA…… YEAH I LIKE THAT SOUND…

  64. @ Joey bishop Corree don’t get mad at Joey Bishop. I think he has small private parts and you know he did not finish college, Girl you know he’s lying and i respect you for not cursing. I am lady and I dont curse either. You know he always calls girl the B word, but that’s why you are a lady so he’s not talking to you. Plus he has small private parts. Ha!Ha!Ha!

  65. Pynk

    @Joey Bishop you’re a college graduate??? You don’t look a day over 17 in your pic…
