Damn right, she shouldn’t shoot if she ain’t got the loot, you knew you didn’t have the dime, so you should have thought about the crime. Even if she does get an appeal, she is going to do some of the time just because she murdered someone, that’s automatic.

Imprisoned rapper Remy Ma has enlisted the services of high profile attorney William “Billy” Murphy, Jr. in her appeal of the assault and illegal weapons convictions that put her behind bars. Remy was convicted of shooting her friend in the abdomen during a confrontation over missing cash in July of 2007. She was sentenced to eight years in prison last May.
“We are pleased to handle Remy Ma’s appeal,” said Murphy in a statement to AllHipHop. “We are confident that when we present all the facts, the public for the first time will get a true picture of what actually happened; and Remy will be vindicated.”
Murphy will be joined by partner Kenneth Ravenell and New York attorney Richard Levitt. According to reports, the Brooklyn rapper is optimistic that the additions to her legal team will help to overturn her conviction.
“With the addition of Mr. Murphy, Ravenell, and Levitt, I now believe I have assembled a team that will have the might and expertise to tell my side of the story,” said Remy Ma, who throughout her trial maintained that the shooting was an accident. “I am confident that after hearing everything my side will prevail. Mr. Murphy comes highly recommended and I am pleased that he has agreed to lead my defense team,” she added.
Remy Ma is currently serving her sentence at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women on Rikers Island, NY.

Since no one else corrected the error, I guess I will. Bedford Hills is not somehow within Rikers it is in the town of Bedford Hills in the state of New York. ALL female inmates with more than 5 year sentences serve their time in Bedford Hills. When they get to the point where they have less than 5 years left on their sentence they are shipped to another prison. Beford Hills is the only maximum security prison for women in New York.
I held down a former homie while she did 10 of her 15 year bid there so I know of what I speak.
And by the way, who the hell is throwing away their hard earned cash on Remy’s legal fees?

This is a pure waste of time and money. If her defense was it was “an accident” that meant she simply lost the “credibility” argument with the jury. Credibility determinations are not considered appealable. The only way she could have her case overturned is if there was a seriously egregious error which directly led to her conviction, which I doubt, under the circumstances, i.e., she had the gun, pulled the trigger, the victim knew her, etc. It’s a no-brainer.
