Sue has been doing news for ages and ALWAYS comes across polished and professional. Broadcast journalism is a tough, competitive field and no doubt there are some haters out there probably wishing they could fill her shoes…hoping she’d be fired or something. SMDH

I work at a tv station and you are right. They curse all the time (especially at each other). But that was the audio engineer’s fault. He should have killed her mic. You’d be surprised what goes on behind the scenes of a live newscast.
I grew up on Sue Simmons she is LEGENDARY here in NYC they say if you make it in NY telebroadcast you really arrived!! Well MS Simmons has held it down in NYC for so long I think this is no big deal.
She was a black woman back when you really didn’t see black women on TV much less a prime time news slot- I love you Sue!!

@lou in the chi…I can imagine! Before I started working around mostly white folks (like I do now), I always assumed that they were super professional at all times. Boy was I wrong. They curse all up and down the office! Straight ignorance. But you know, its kind of therapudic to be able to relax a little on a stressful job. They need to lay off of this Sue lady.
Yeah I agree. It’s rather comical watching your boss curse out the lead anchor in the middle of the show. This is a high stress industry and you see people blow their tops all the time. But its all love. I’m sure Sue’s news director did not trip abouther slip-up. As I said, the audio engineer was probably the only one to get in trouble as they are amongst the peons at the station(I am also one of these peons), and they treat them like ish.
That was hilarious because she seemed really pissed off.

I have to admit that I snickered a little when I watched this clip. At the CBS news station where I worked, this kind of language is common, so I’m not surprised. It’s unfortunate that she slipped during a live broadcast. Keep your head up Sue!

I still think she is a classy lady and I believe her, if she was a drunk they would have caught her out there more times already. This was a mistake on her part but just the fact that she immediately addressed it and apologized no questions asked shows the kind of woman she is.
This is normal. I dont know why people get hung up over things. People are PAID to act a certain way, its all an ACT Lol. When the lights go off, the cameras stop rolling, and you get in your car on the way home and that asshole cut you off…an array of things come out thats for sure lol

I remember Sue Simmons from back many years ago. My goodness she was a PYT in the late 70’s, and a very capable anchorwoman. She has well earned a pass - we all make mistakes, and hers didn’t hurt a soul.
Here in L.A., we had a white weatherman Mark Kriski curse out a makeup person on the air one morning when he thought his mic was off. They quickly went to commercial and came back like nothing ever happened. No apolgies or anything. At least Sue Simmons had enough class to own up to her mistake.

U took it back w/Che Che Williams (Channel 7) & Carol Martin(Channel 2). Che Che was 1 hot piece on TV. Carol Martin looked like she had a wonky eye. Carol Jenkins was nice looking 2. Do u remember Doris Mc Millan (Channel 5) & Lynne White (Channel 5 weatherperson)? Sue deserves a pass. She just uttered 1 curse word as opposed to a profanity laced tirade. PLus, she can still get it for someone that is 64 y.o.

@El Regalo- Lynn White held her position on channel 11 in the early 2000’s. I wasn’t crazy about her. she came across as a black woman who didn’t know she was black, then her partying w/ Puffy & Russel Simmons started making the page 6 in the Daily News until one day she had to check her co-anchor when he assumed she couldn’t cook she tld him “please, I’m a black woman I know how to cook” then soon after she was ghost!

@ Aoki Lee. Richard Bey show was off the hook back in the 90’s. He had some wild antics on his show & I don’t know where he found those people. But to go back even more, do u remember the Morton Downey Jr show in the late 80’s?
