Sen. Hillary Clinton said she “misspoke” last week when she gave a dramatic description of her arrival in Bosnia 12 years ago, recounting a landing under sniper fire. Clinton was responding to a question Monday from the Philadelphia Daily News’ editorial board about video footage of the event that contradicted her assertion that her group “ran with our heads down” from the plane to avoid sniper fire at the Tuzla Air Base, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for rival Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign, said the Bosnia claim was part of “a growing list of instances in which Sen. Clinton has exaggerated her role in foreign and domestic policymaking.”
Clinton told the paper’s editorial board it was a “minor blip.” “I say a lot of things — millions of words a day — so if I misspoke, that was just a misstatement,” she said.
SMH, how is that a minor blip? This broad needs to sit her ass down somewhere and shut the hell up instead of ‘misspeaking’ on a regular basis. YES WE CAN!!!

I think someone said it earlier that she used this same story while she was in other states so how is it suddenly that she misspoke. Also how did she misspeak a whole story that was the complete opposite of what happened that day? Lastly I’m sure they would not have flown that woman to Bosnia knowing that there was some type of threat there. Lies! What kills me is how the media is not blowing this up like they did about Obama’s pastor.

WOW!! It’s amazing how a few years/months can change so much in a presidential race. As you recall, back in 2004-2006 Hillary was claiming that she had no aspiration to ever be President and had no plans of ever running for President, certainly not as early as 2008 she said. Now fast forward 2 years later, she’s supposed to be #1 contender(democratic), well that was she thought until this unknown young black guy from Illinois came on the scene. In the beginning, i’m sure her and her campaign just laughed and shrugged Obama off. Then he started to talk and they(Hillary and Co.) listened and said damn, a brother actually speaks like that. Then he started raising campaign funds at a record pace and amount and they(Hillary and Co.) said damn, who in the hell does he know that’s giving up that much dough. Then, the black people that once supported Hillary(and there was a large number, more than care to admit, I was one) started to listen this brother and his wife and they(Hillary and Co.) said damn where in the hell did this guy come from. Ever since then, they(Hillary and Co.) have no idea and no clue how to get rid of this dude. They tried the ‘No experience’ thing, they tried the ‘Rev. Wright’ thing, but to no avail. The Hillary camp is all but over, but this is politics people, we have to wait and see when it’s all over. In the end, I honestly believe that Obama is the best candidate period. Hillary had her chance, but over the last few months, even if she won the nod to run against McCain, I have lost so much respect and confidence in her, that I wouldn’t even exercise my right to vote.

In other words, there was still a line of defense for Obama even with the media onslaught. Flip the script to Hillary Clinton who has been caught in an out and out lie and where are her supporters? They are hiding because there is no rational excuse for a person is asking the American public to ‘hire’ her as President and to then be shown to have padded her resume. Earlier in the week, Sean Hannity denied, albeit in contradictory terms, ever having a relationship with neo Nazi/white supremacist Hal Turner. As I posted the night Hannity was confronted about Turner, the evidence conflicts with Hanniy’s claims. Now Turner has confirmed their friendship and their sympatico views in a blog post called, “About Sean Hannity and Me. . . . . Last Wednesday (3/19/08), Hannity & Colmes guest Malik Shabazz asked Hannity, in response to his continual attacks on Barack Obama regarding his pastor, “Are you to be judged by your promotion and association with Hal Turner?”
Hannity at first denied knowing Turner, then asserted that Turner was someone running a campaign in New Jersey whom Hannity had banned from his radio show. Then in what sounded like a tacit admission to me, Hannity told Shabazz, “I’m not running for president.”
Two nights later (3/21/08) on Hannity & Colmes, Hannity professed to be saddened by the racial divisiveness engendered by the controversy about Obama and his pastor. But Hannity seems to have directly participated in far more divisiveness than Obama. Please write Hannity and FOX News and demand that Hannity come clean about his own associations before he continues accusing Barack Obama about his.

However, as I noted in my responding comment at 3:11, the real issue is what was Turner allowed to say on the air, how often and what was Hannity’s reaction? We have an article in a national magazine plus one of the parties involved who say that Hannity was a welcoming, friendly and encouraging host for Turner’s views for a good while. Neither Boyce nor Hannity has specifically denied that.

We talked about how the budget was balanced, how unemployment was at an all-time low, made jokes about Bill being the 1st black Prez, wishing he could run again, etc., etc. But NOW that Barack is running, suddenly a lot of these SAME FOLKS are talking out of their necks saying “The Shady Clintons” this and “These muthfuckas got no shame” that, etc etc. It’s amazing to me how quickly some folks switch up when a brotha is running.
Again, I would love to see Barack win the whole thing, based on his convictions & his leadership capabilities. But based on what I see & hear from a lot of folks like many of you all, he probably would not be getting this same support from you, IF he were as white as everyone else who ran! So my question is: Why? He’s a great man with tremendous potential to help remake the face of a country & a world, and it likely would go un-noticed by some of y’all if he weren’t at least part black. THAT, in my opinion, is what’s TRULY shady — being ignorant/aware to certain qualities in a potential world leader, based on their color or the lack thereof. Just my opinion, thanks.

Den, you’ve raised some interesting points, and as someone across the pond,it’s been fascinating to watch what’s been happening from a distance.
I don’t think that you are the only black person by any means who would vote for a person with the qualities and abilities of Barack Obama had he been a white man. From this end, not so very long ago, there were some very interesting news reports slamming on and on about the fact that black Americans were not going to vote for this man for all manner of reasons, and writing him off without producing a shred of evidence as to why he was less worthy than the other candidates.
Well recent events have shown things in a slightly different light, I think…
As for those with the rose tinted glasses hearkening back to the “good ol’ days” when Bill was in, that’s nothing new. We have the exact same thing over here, with many who were no fans of Blair now looking at the current calamity that is the Brown government and thinking perhaps “things weren’t as bad as we thought when Blair was around”. Looking back to a past that often never was as comforting and cosy as we see it to be in the present is a universally human trait!
As for me, not being able to cast a vote now or “back then” I’m enjoying watching what is happening in these elections, and coming from an international perspective find what is happening with Mrs. “Far More Experienced With Foreign Policy Including Bosnia” Clinton, very interesting!

Thanks much for the international perspective, I found it very interesting. Regarding the “good ole days”, here’s the thing: It’d be different if people were dissatisfied with the Clinton administration at the time, and then later began to miss it - like in your example with the Blair regime. However, many of the people I’m mentioning were happy DURING the Clinton administration AND AFTER it - citing how well the country was doing. Clinton’s approval rating when he left office was in the mid-60’s, which is VERY high for a President leaving office. Then, once the current nimrod, aka George W. Bush, took office, much of the country longed to go back to the times of the Clinton era.
ONLY NOW do we have this number of folks un-writing history & referring to the Clinton’s as “shady” and “no good”, etc. Some of these folks, though they’d never admit it now, are some of the VERY folks who were longing for the days when the budget was balanced under Bill, and are NOW SUDDENLY singing a different song, now that Barack the brother is running. Barack is a great man & has the potential to be a great leader, but I just find it interesting the way perceptions of others change, when someone with the same skin tone comes along.

Let me start by saying I appreciate your well written statement to Bossip. However there are a couple of very major fallacies in your point of not being loyal to the Clinton’s. The Clinton’s are not running. Hillary is. Any statement to the contrary says Bill is controlling Hillary which is obviously not true. It also plays to the sexist idea that a woman can only run with a Male president doing all the work from the sidelines. Not fair, accurate or true.
Because of her husband I opened my arms to Hillary in the beginning just as many other blacks did. However she single handedly proved she is no where near the person I perceived Bill to be. She also has proven she has to manipulate voters in a way that the charismatic Bill never had to. She seems untrustworthy and very GOP like. With all the mistakes she has made…
- Acknowledging the system is broken but saying Barack is naive for wanting change. Then adapting a platform of change.
-Manipulating voters with a campaign that uses sex, lies, race, nationality, stereotypes tears and fears to tear down her competition.
-Siding with the opposition party, stating only they could be great presidents despite Barack’s similar platform and Mc Cain’s completely contrary platform. (Does she really believe McCain would be a great president? Then how can she attack his position later on?
-Offering a vice presidency seat to number one when you are # 2 in a two man race (Delusions of Grandeur).
- Attacking a candidates loved ones to get at a squeaky clean Obama when we know none of it is at all relevant to the candidates credentials.
-Asking him to denounce Farrakhan when Obama has never been tied to the man.
- By knowing that she has lost the race yet still tearing down the democratic party and Obama to beat him she has shown that she is disloyal and self motivated. (Her goal is to not lose. This is quite contrary to the ideal candidate who would bow out to help America be better. To prevent 4 more years of a unnecessary and bloody GOP war.)
- Now repeatedly lying about an event that has bolstered her resume from the start. It was the one true issue that she has campaigned on (her experience). She has made accusation upon accusation but no issue talk to this date.
She removed her self from this race and we are just being nice for saying anything to the contrary. How can we still say this person will be a strong candidate.
Bill is still considered a good President in my eyes. I was proud to have him in office and aside from the evolution of GOP style politics that highlighted non office related scandals, his consecutive terms have just a few disapproved actions. If he were running we may have never been allowed to see how strong Barack is.
As far as Barack being biracial, I agree with Dee this played against him more than in his favor in the beginning. The initial poles don’t lie. However knowing what I know today if Barack was a 100% white man he would still have my vote in a passionate way. This fictional candidate would be very Robert Kennedy like and a virtual shoe in. He would have had a much easier road than Obama.
He has proven himself in away no other candidate has ever had to. Unfortunately it probably wouldn’t have took so long for many of us to come around to seeing his obvious qualifications had he been 100% white.
But do I feel a great deal of pride knowing that 50% of his race is Black? Yes I do. Especially when I know it helped contribute to his greatness. Maybe more whites should take ownership of the 50% of him that is white?
There is nothing wrong with loving the fact that he is half black. I think it is his ability to see both sides of race divide that makes him such a balanced candidate. It also makes his voters the most diverse and forward thinking out there.
Yes 50 % black is great, it is the icing that has made an extremely qualified candidate even more impactful to us all. I will not feel guilty about this. No white man has ever been made to feel so about being prideful of the complete shutout of male white Presidents before him.
In closing please know that the same economic team that made Bill a success chose to work with Obama before the primary. It was one of the things that caught my attention intially about Obama (don’t just believe me look it up). So if we are trying to return to those more prosperous Clinton years Obama is our best choice not Hillary Clinton.

Thanks much for sharing your impressions, I appreciate it. While I agree with so much about what you said about Barack, I think you misread me in terms of the Bill vs. Hillary notion. In other words, the only reason I used the term “Shady Clintons” instead of “Shady Hillary” when I was making my point, is because that’s a term the I read certain folks using! It’s not my term, and I’m MORE than aware that Hillary is nothing close to her husband, as a candidate. So I’m not, in any way, coming from a place of sexism or from a place where I perceive them both to be running.
My point was, simply based on the fact that now that Barack (a person with more black in him than any of the other candidates we know of) is running, certain black folks suddenly have changed that tune from even the BILL Clinton positivity. No longer are they heralding the great President that he was. Nor are they separating the 2, like you are, by saying that Bill is great & Hillary is shady. Instead, they’re making it a combo & touting them both as the “Shady Clintons”, etc. Hence, my issue.
