Scandal extraordinaire Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was out creeping recently at the Grove Park Inn in Ashville, NC with a broad named “Carmen Slowsky”:
Reports that Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick had a woman other than his wife with him at the Grove Park Inn before speaking at the Martin Luther King Prayer Breakfast left event organizers disappointed Friday. The mayor had been with a woman who called herself Carmen Slowsky and that the two had enjoyed champagne and a whirlpool bath together at a cost of more than $500. A copy of the hotel invoice shows a stay arranged for two.A prosecutor in Michigan launched an investigation Friday into allegations that Kilpatrick lied under oath about an affair with his top aide. Kilpatrick is married, and news of an extramarital affair with his chief of staff had surfaced in Detroit recently. Kilpatrick has said the affair was over.

Dear Mayor Kilpatrick,
I would first like to thank you and the citizens of Detroit for the opportunity to have worked for the city that I love so much over the past six years.
Serving as Chief of Staff for the Kilpatrick administration since 2002 has been an honor and a privilege. I was born and raised in Detroit and my childhood goal was always to serve my city. I came back home after college to do just that. Serving our citizens and helping to transform Detroit into an even greater city is what I’ve been dedicated to everyday since January 2002.
As Chief of Staff, I managed key city departments in such areas as human services and labor relations as well as administering the day to day operations of the Mayor’s office. I’ve served the administration and Detroit citizens with diligence, strength and perserverance and I hope that my efforts will one day show through above all else.
In spite of this, however, I believe that it is clear I can no longer effectively carry out the duties of Chief of Staff. Therefore, this letter serves as my resignation effective, February 8, 2008 to allow for an orderly transition of my duties with the new chief of staff. I painfully regret the devastation that the recent reports have caused to the citizens of Detroit, to my co workers, to the Mayor’s family and to my family and friends.
Again, I thank you and the citizens of Detroit for the opportunity to serve.

He’s been out of sight since we caught him leaving his Florida hideaway late yesterday…but our chief investigative reporter Steve Wilson joins us now with evidence of where he was and what he was doing just last Sunday…

He traveled here to appear at a Martin Luther King prayer breakfast…but even with his wife and three children back home, he and a companion took time for a romantic two-hour “Couple’s Retreat” at the world renowned spa there.
Although his wife Carlita did not attend the North Carolina event, here’s the mayor’s hotel bill showing two occupants in the room and confirming the spa treatments for a couple.
After a one-hour massage for the Mayor and a woman that a spa worker told me tonight was his girlfriend, they pamper session continued with a serving of chocolate-covered strawberries and fine champagne for the two to enjoy from the warmth of an aromatic whirlpool bath.
Here is the receipt that shows the services charged to Kwame Kilpatrick and a woman listed as Carmen Slowski. A search of records in Michigan and North Carolina both produced no record of any such person, a name similar to the fictional character in a TV ad for high-speed internet service.
After first refusing to acknowledge the mayor’s presence in North Carolina, his spokesman did confirm it after we broke this story on Action News at 6…but would provide no other details about the mayors spa treatments or why the hotel bill shows he was not alone.

And the mayor, of course, now in serious hot water because under oath just last summer, he denied any intimate relationship with Beatty or that the two were behind the firing of officers investigating Kilpatrick.
So, beyond just learning more about the Mayor’s personal life, these new details tonight further erode his credibility as more and more Detroiters wonder if they can believe what their embattled mayor has to say when he finally emerges from hiding.
